Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death among women and men. Results from the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), funded by the National Cancer Institute, showed that high-risk smokers and former smokers who had a low-dose CT scan had a better chance of detecting lung cancer earlier than those who underwent a standard chest X-ray.
ARE YOU AT INCREASED RISK TO DEVELOP LUNG CANCER?
WE CAN HELP YOU FIND OUT.
At MD Anderson, we are developing new tests that may help improve lung cancer screening results. By participating in this Lung Cancer Early Detection study, long term high-risk heavy smokers and former smokers will receive a low- dose CT scan that may be able to detect the presence of lung cancer early. This could allow you to start receiving treatment earlier. Other study benefits include free parking and gift card compensation.
